Maybe Kurando's is more popular but Kaisen is less crowded and just as good and less expensive. Hawiian themed, and great specials. Very friendly wait staff. Overall the best place in Oceanside to get sushi, and I've been to them all.
We have eaten at Kaisen at least once a week for the past seven years. We have tried all the local sushi bars and this one is consistently good and the service is always excellent. They have reasonable prices which allow us to go more often. Live music on Wed. Fri. & Sat. so those are the busier nights. Music is Hawaiian and so is the restaurant theme. You have to try their poke salad, which is a Hawaiian specialty that is sashimi flavored with sesame oil and some garlic. They also have Japanese, Hawaiian and some Korean dinners, for those who do not like sushi.
