Things to do and see in Oceanside, CA

There are many things to see and do in Oceanside - here’s a list of some of the more popular attractions.

Oceanside Pier

The Oceanside Municipal Pier

Not really an activity but a must visit if you’re in the area, the Oceanside Pier is the longest all wood piers on the West Coast at a whopping 1940 feet.  Taking a stroll down this bit of Oceanside history you’ll encounter visitors and locals alike as the pier offers fishing, magnificent views of the local beaches, and a 50’s style diner perched at the tip.

Oceanside Amphitheatre

Located adjacent to the base of the pier is the Oceanside Amphitheatre which plays host to various events throughout the year like the Summer Jam Talent Show and evening jazz and other musical performances.  When not booked for a function you can find many Oceanside residents here sunning away a warm afternoon.
Mission San Luis Rey

The San Luis Rey Mission

If you want to take a break from Oceanside’s beaches for awhile travel a little inland to visit the San Luis Rey Mission, a late 18th century mission which offers guided informational tours and quiet paths through the sunken gardens.  The mission is still functional and offers weekend mass.

Oceanside Harbor

Oceanside Harbor

Hundreds of colorful boats of all shapes and sizes bob up and down in the placid waters of the Oceanside Harbor.  Like a tiny seacoast village all its own, the Oceanside Harbor features many small shops and restaurants as well as a variety of boat rentals, dinner cruises, deep sea fishing expeditions, and more.  The Harbor beach also offers firepits.
California Surf Museum

California Surf Museum

The California Surf Museum serves as an international repository and resource center on the lifestyle sport of surfing through capturing, preserving, and chronicling its art, culture and heritage for the education and enjoyment of future generations.

Oceanside Museum of Art

Oceanside Museum of Art

With exhibitions featuring both local and international artists, the Oceanside Museum of Art is housed in a class building designed by Irving Gill in the 1930s.  OMA also offers art instruction, chamber music, bus tours to other Southern California art museums, and various lectures and workshops.
