Dolores, I was in build city last week. Did not recognize area above the Strand. All I could see was buildings shooting up one after the other, from the special underpass. I really had to look hard to find the pier and walk about. I guess I'm so far behind the times, I sure would not go down on the 4th and try to find a place to view activities in my wheelchair, I am not high enough.
Was happy to see they did not destroy Mission Avenue yet, or the historical bldg. where it was unbelieveable I was able to get in there with my wheelchair, and Atty Lou Taschner found the loose wire so I could ride home. The meeting was an old one about rehabbing downtown. I never dreamed it would be all covered with buildings. At least they left the art piece there.
I was feared to see what they have done to the ramp side for the wheelchairs. Maybe after the fourth I'll go down and attempt it one more time before it is a building. Oh no, it can't be, it connects directly to the Strand fro Amy's house, that is good.
Have a Happy Holiday amidst all the buildings. Don't expect room next year. The NCT said to get there at 4:30am to get a decent parking space and spot on the beach. Then expect to get home by midnight I suppose. What a mess.
