Oceanside Nightlife
While Oceanside isn’t as well-known for its nightlife as its sprawling neighbor to the south (San Diego), there is still a lot to do for the late-night adventurer.
4 Popular Night Spots in Oceanside
The Haunted Head Saloon
A cross between a dive bar and a salty saloon, the pirate-themed Haunted Head Saloon is a small but popular hangout in Oceanside with a cadre of locals and plenty of visitors year-round. Play a game of 8-ball on the tightly contested pool table or throw some Beck on the digital jukebox as you mingle with crowd.
O-Zone (Formerly The Rusty Spur)
The major billiards bar in Oceanside, The Rusty Spur was once known as a somewhat rougher alternative to many of the other bars but has recently gained new management and a new ambiance while retaining its always active pool tables.
McCabes Beach Club
Every visit is different at McCabe’s Beach Club, where country music may soothe the bar on one night with hip-hop pumping out loud beats on another. Karaoke is also a popular night, although those on the wrong side of the mic may tend to disagree.
The Surf Bowl
Rounding out the list is a nightlife option who’s dress code requires you to wear someone elses dirty shoes. Oceanside’s only bowling alley, The Surf Bowl offers late night bowling and special events from time to time.

Formally “The Rusty Spur” a some what of a cowboy bar, is now the hottest spot in North County, all weekend long there is a DJ, the Dancefloor is always poppin’. There are great attentive bartenders, and they are friendly, there to get your drinks. The prices are out of sight reasonable.
There is also Two Standard size pool tables that are always flowing with a great game!!
Sundays are always fun, with 5 TV sets to watch all the football games and they have shot specials for everygame played….

Bubs Whiskey Dive, is now PierViewPub, right on the corner of Cleveland and Pierview way… Just steps from the Ocean and Oceansides most famous pier.
If you like Rockabilly you will love this bar, fetures Beer and Wine and some of the hottest Bartenders in town.
They are catering to everyone!!
There is always great music on the juke box and two fabulous Pool tables for your entertainment.
The Prices are ALWAYS low.
Most weekends they have live Bands and if they do have a cover (hardly ever) it is very low.
It is one of the most hottiest spots in Oceanside

Since you didn’t mention the Beach Club on P.C.H. I felt it was up to me to say something. The downtown bars are way too wild for my family and me. The Beach Club is somewhere I can take my wife and kids to eat, drink and enjoy watching a football game. A very friendly, fun place, with good food. Hey, it works for me.

I was actually trying to be nice when I said the action in the downtownbar was wild. What I should of said was out of control. Just thisweek-end I saw a guy hit a woman outside the Ozone bar. And this is thekind of action you are looking for? I don’t always have my kids with me,but I still like to enjoy myself without some one looking to start afight.

Sorry for some comments ’bout Pier View pub that were not appropriate. Sorry, but didn’t have a very good experience with that bar or the bartenders… don’t recommend going there if you are of the female persuasion…..

I tried to give Pier View Pub another try, and it was not a successful try. There were really intoxicated people that really rubbed me the wrong way. That included the staff. ie THE BARTENDERS. Isn’t there something that could be done?? Just wanted to know??

If your having a bad time during the nights, than try going to them durning the day. I work at the Ozone. And when I’m not there Baby-T is working. You’ll have a good time, play some pool, or the Buck hunter, or just listen to the music,(which is Not to loud). Have good drinks, and just hang out.

Thank you for your input, I appreciate it Kelly…. I always have fun at the Ozone, dancing drinking the bartenders are sober and friendly and I appreciate the staffs help when I need something.
I have also been there during the day when you were there and you are a lot of fun.
Pier View Pub isn’t my speed and I have tried and tried to go down there and have a good time watch the sunset and take it all in. It just never works out it is a serious bummer!
There really needs to be something done about the Drinking behind the bar that goes on there and the one female who is such a “friend to all the men
