Vox Populi of Oceanside
This is my first attempt at blogging. I appreciate the chance to use this forum as my first blogging experience. I intend to blog about the politics of Oceanside.
This first blog is about Councilperson Esther Sanchez ’s political vendetta against the executive director of Ivey Ranch, Tanya Danielly. Ivey Ranch provides day care and horseback riding programs for disabled youth and young adults on a city owned site at Mission Road and Rancho del Oro Road. Oceanside Jim Wood and Councilperson Sanchez voted not to renew the Ivey Ranch lease because Sanchez said that the executive director could not pass a background check which was false. Sanchez should not have stated anything as all of this information was only discussed in the city council closed session. Her public discussion was a violation of the Brown Act which states that nothing in closed session can be revealed unless it is reported out of closed session first. In this case, nothing had been reported out. Sanchez clearly violated the Brown Act. Further, Sanchez tried to smear the executive director by saying that Danielly could not pass a background check. Again, Sanchez tried to infer that she knew information no one else did and tried to use it against the executive director.
That’s why I am calling on the Oceanside city council majority to censor Sanchez for violating the Brown Act when she discussed the closed session personnel matter. The Ivey Ranch executive director, Tanya Danielly, has accomplished a great deal in providing programs for disabled children. Let’s not destroy these accomplishments with Sanchez’s McCarthyism-type tactics. Sounds like the same old Sanchez to me.

Thanks Vox Populi of Oceanside for urging participation in the political environment and agenda of Oceanside, the third largest city in San Diego county. More citizens should be involved in
our governance process lest we forfeit our ultimate right to make a difference. People like you, Vox Populi of Oceanside, can stimulate that discussion of all our of citizens. We need your
challenge. Keep up the good work.

Although I respect Lawsons Viewpoints he had a few points that can not be substantiated according to information shared on the council dais that was not refuted by the City Atty nor the City Manager The Director of Ivey Ranch did not pass the City’s Background Check for its own City Advisory Commission standards. The City Aty. did not warn or advise to cease to communicate what she was communicating nor has the city atty since in writting publiclly done so, and the city atty. is the watch dog for the city council to protect the city legally especially for matters regarding the Brown Act. On Many other occasions other council members have explained their votes on closed session items. So either Mr. Chadwick must equitably apply the censure standard to all council members or none.

Does ANYONE know what the heck Jimmy Knott, III, IV, or V is saying??? This man surely needs to return to school to learn something about spelling, punctuating, sentence structure, etc., etc. AND, who appointed him as spokesperson for the Oceanside City Council??? PLEASE, does anyone know the answer to this question???
Frankly, if we could replace Esther Sanchez with Lawson Chadwick on the City Council, we would then be rid of the persistent “nit picker,” and get something done of substance for this city. Until Esther is gone, we will have nothing but vendettas, petty quarrels, and Esther’s constant yak, yak, yaking on the dias, saying absolutely nothing. Our city deserves better than Esther Sanchez and we need to get rid of her pronto!!!!!

We feel that barring ‘any person’ from an open Council meeting smacks at ‘Hitlerism!
